The Friends of Builth Hospital as it is now known was set up in 1964 and since then over £½ million has been given for new build and funding of equipment to improve facilities for patients.
The Friends meet regularly throughout the year. We work closely with our Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Hospital and before any decisions are made we have discussions with Drs., Matron and Staff to ensure their requirements.
Our only Fund-raisers during the year are a Coffee Morning held in September and two Whist Drives in June, all other monies are donations presented by events held by local clubs, such as Young Farmers raising funds Carol Singing and proceeds of Wedding Anniversaries and bequests kindly given to their beloved Hospital.
There are also a large number of donations given ‘In Memory’ of loved ones who have been patients in our Hospital.
The people of Builth and the catchment area need the Hospital, being such a rural area and at least 40 miles from the nearest D.G.H.
