All 4 Practice Nurses see patients for cervical smears by appointments which can be
arranged directly by them, the doctors or reception.
Smear testing can pick up early signs of serious disease in the cervix at a stage when curative treatment is possible.
The Practice uses Liquid Based Cytology testing
All women between the ages of 20 and 64 are eligible for a free cervical smear test every three to five years. The NHS Cervical Screening Programme will now be implementing screening at different intervals depending on age. This change is recommended to take place after a woman's next smear, which will already have been scheduled.
