The main aim of the District Nursing Service is to help patients with health problems to stay at home rather than be admitted to hospital. The District Nurses will support and teach patients and their carers how to manage their own health needs.

District Nurses visit people who are unable to leave their home, or when the home is the most appropriate place for their care for example, after major surgery. The District Nurses also support care staff in our local residential homes. They work closely with our local GP’s, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and the Community Hospital.

Patients must be considered to need the care of a qualified nurse. If you need assistance with washing, dressing, shopping etc, this can be provided by social services after an assessment by a social worker. Social services can be contacted on 01597 827102

Anyone can refer a person to the District Nursing Service using the telephone numbers above, but the person must agree to the referral.
