Covid service update

April 21

Dear Patient

Covid –new measures

We are pleased to announce that we have reviewed the waiting room facilities and are now in a position to re-open the doors as long as we all proceed with caution. To allow us to decide on this course of action we have undertaken a risk assessment, considered the percentage of the population who have been vaccinated and the decline in infection rates across Wales.  It is important that we don’t get complacent and stick to the rules, ensuring that we maintain a safe environment for both you our patients, our staff and also everyone else that needs to attend the surgery in a professional capacity.  It is vital that access remains limited in order that we can manage the social distance measures and limit the contacts of individuals.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE SURGERY IF YOU HAVE HAD RECENT CONTACT WITH ANYONE DISPLAYING COVID SYMPTOMS (EVEN IF YOU HAVE HAD A VACCINATION), HAD A RECENT POSITIVE COVID TEST, OR HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID AND NEED TO BOOK A TEST OR ARE AWATING A TEST RESULT.  PLEASE MAKE CONTACT BY TELEPHONE.

The following guidelines will apply during the first phase:

Hygiene points – will be located around the surgery please use these on entrance and exit there will also be wipes available for chairs if you wish to use.  The waiting room will have regular cleaning of check in screen, door handles and chairs.

Telephone – this continues to be busy, please consider is the call necessary, if it is Covid related please read the information on line, if it concerns appointments that have been undertaken or planned for  the Mass Vaccination Centre please contact them direct 03456 027053.  All appointments will continue to be made by telephone.  In order to prioritise the calls and reduce the waiting time the following will now apply.

If you have a general query, need to book a routine blood test or a review or procedure with a nurse please call after 11.00.

Appointments– Will continue to be made by telephone for the time being.

Invited to surgery for appointment – Arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time, wear a mask (If you have a medical reason and this is not possible please advise when making the appointment so we can arrange a quieter time for your attendance)

Use the hand sanitiser

Come alone unless you need assistance

Check in on the automatic screen and take a seat – please note that if all the seats are used then we have reached capacity and we would ask you to kindly wait outside until one becomes available.  You will be called to the room when clinician is ready.

Reception area

During the first phase this will be for collection and drop off only.  This decision will be reviewed as time goes on.

These measures have been put in place to allow us to re-open the doors in a safe manner.

We will continue to monitor the situation and may need to make changes at short notice if we consider there are any risks that need addressing.

Thank you all for working with us to enforce these measures.
